Jennifer Neill

Occupational Therapist

Jennifer Neill holds an undergraduate degree in Biology and Nutrition from the University of Prince Edward Island and a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from McMaster University. She is a pediatric Occupational Therapist with over 20 years of experience supporting children to build confidence, emotional regulation, and meaningful everyday skills.

Jennifer provides neurodivergent-affirming, trauma-informed care and specializes in sensory–motor integration and DIR/Floortime, a Developmental, Individual differences, and Relationship-based approach that supports children’s emotional, social, and functional development through attuned, play-based interactions.

Jennifer began her occupational therapy career in New Brunswick, where she worked for nine years across a range of pediatric settings. She later returned to Prince Edward Island, where she worked in early intervention, further strengthening her expertise in family-centred, developmentally responsive, and emotionally attuned support for children and caregivers.

She brings extensive advanced training and certifications that allow her to support children with a wide range of sensory, motor, emotional, and developmental profiles. Her training includes DIR/Floortime, CO-OP (Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), vision therapy, parent coaching, and mental health–informed interventions. Jennifer also holds certification in ConTiGO (Connection and Transformation in the Great Outdoors), a nature-based therapeutic approach, and SMART (Sensory Motor Arousal Regulation Treatment), a mental health therapy supporting emotional regulation and nervous system balance in children and adolescents.

Across her career, Jennifer has worked in schools, early intervention programs, home-based services, and interdisciplinary team settings. This breadth of experience gives her a deep understanding of how children learn, play, and thrive within their natural environments. Her

therapy is individualized, functional, and grounded in everyday routines, relationships, and meaningful participation.

With a relationship-based, strengths-focused approach, Jennifer strives to make therapy feel safe, connected, and playful. She partners closely with families so children feel deeply understood and supported in ways that honor their unique neurology and lived experience.

Outside of her clinical work, Jennifer enjoys spending quality time with her family. She loves trail running, biking, and exploring beach and forest trails with her dog.
