COUNSELLING SERVICES

Counselling is a powerful step toward healing, whether you're working to maintain your mental wellness or striving to improve it. At our practice, we recognize that mental health is deeply connected to all areas of life, including physical health, relationships, work, and personal growth. Our counsellors and mental health clinicians are trained in evidence-based modalities and provide compassionate, individualized support to people navigating a wide range of life challenges.

Therapy offers a safe space to feel seen, heard, and valued, exactly as you are.Rather than focusing solely on diagnosis or pathology, our approach centers on connection, understanding, and the belief that every person has the capacity for meaningful change. We tailor our support to each individual's needs and goals, drawing on a variety of therapeutic tools -not just traditional talk therapy- including somatic, mindfulness-based, and holistic practices.

Below are some of the key areas of specialization offered at our clinic:

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING SESSION

Individual counselling is a one-on-one session with a licensed counsellor or registered social worker, designed to provide you with a safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. Whether you're navigating stress, anxiety, relationships, grief, or major life transitions, your clinician will work collaboratively with you to identify your goals and support you in finding strategies that align with your needs and values. Each session is tailored to meet you where you are, offering compassionate, client-centered care.

ART BASED THERAPY

In Art informed therapy sessions, clients create art with a therapist, affording them the opportunity to process complex experiences, emotions, thoughts, and feelings without sole reliance on words. Previous experience making art is not required, and the art works are not judged or graded, but remain a source for private contemplation within the context of a safe therapeutic space.

CHILDREN AND YOUTH SERVICES

Our counselling services for children and youth are designed to support young people through the unique emotional, behavioural, and developmental challenges they may face. Using age-appropriate approaches — including play-based techniques, creative expression, and talk therapy — we help children and teens build emotional resilience, develop coping skills, and navigate issues such as anxiety, grief, family changes, school stress, or peer relationships. We also work closely with parents and caregivers to ensure a supportive and collaborative approach to care.

DEEP BRAIN REORIENTING (DBR)

Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) is a trauma-focused psychotherapy approach that works with the brain’s natural, deep-level orienting response. DBR targets the earliest moments of how the brain and body register threat or attachment disruption, helping clients access and process trauma at its neurological roots. This gentle yet powerful method supports healing without overwhelming the nervous system, making it especially effective for complex trauma, attachment

wounds, and other deeply held emotional experiences.

SOMATIC THERAPY

Somatic therapy is a body-centered form of psychotherapy that helps clients explore how emotions, trauma, and stress are held and expressed physically. By tuning into bodily sensations, breath, and movement, this therapy supports healing from the inside out. It can help regulate the nervous system, release tension, and build a deeper sense of safety and connection within the body — especially for those who feel disconnected, overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns that talk therapy alone hasn't resolved.

EQUINE ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) uses interactions with horses as a unique and powerful way to explore emotions, build self-awareness, and develop coping skills. Working alongside horses helps clients improve communication, confidence, and emotional regulation in a safe, supportive environment. This experiential therapy is especially helpful for individuals dealing with anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, or self-esteem issues, offering insights and healing that go beyond traditional talk therapy.

SENSORIMOTOR PSYCHOTHERAPY

Sensorimotor Psychotherapy is a body-centered therapy that integrates talk therapy with mindful attention to physical sensations and movement. It helps clients process trauma and emotional challenges by focusing on the ways the body holds and reacts to stress. This approach supports healing by fostering awareness of bodily experiences, improving self-regulation, and releasing trauma stored in muscle tension or posture — making it especially effective for trauma recovery and emotional resilience.

EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION REPROCESSING (EMDR)

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps individuals process and heal from trauma, anxiety, and other distressing life experiences. By using bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements or tapping), EMDR supports the brain’s natural ability to reprocess difficult memories, reduce emotional intensity, and promote lasting emotional relief. It’s particularly effective for PTSD, anxiety, and issues rooted in past experiences.
